Is it possible to purchase average home in a safe location for 50,000 or less?

With low housing costs go low paying jobs. Yes, there are exceptions to every rule but they are just that exceptions. Look where you are now, of you can't afford to rent, or own a place where you are on what you make then that will carry anywhere you go.

You won't get much of anything for $40,000 in San Antonio aside from a shanty in the barrio. Ten years ago, maybe, but not today.

You can get something livable in Joplin, MO for $50,000.00. It won't be in the best area but it won't be the worst either.

I know a place where the ALL AROUND prices for a homes are great.(cost of living) Central California.. Fresno/Visalia area has great prices for being in California. There's plenty of small towns in that area that have homes at very great prices. Starting at $90,000 and above. Drive one hour west and u hit the beach. Drive one hour East and you hit the mountains and National Forest's. Drive 1 hour South and u hit LA. One hour north and you hit the BAY! Cost of living and all the other factors make it worth it.
