Pay per click (PPC) is an Internet advertising model used on search engines, advertising networks, and content websites, such as blogs, where advertisers only pay when a user actually clicks on an advertisement to visit the advertisers' website. With search engines, advertisers typically bid on keyword phrases relevant to their target market. When a user types a keyword query matching an advertiser's keyword list, or views a webpage with relevant content, the advertisements may be displayed. Such advertisements are called sponsored links or sponsored ads, and appear adjacent to or above the "natural" or organic results on search engine results pages, or anywhere a webmaster or blogger chooses on a content page. Content websites commonly charge a fixed price for a click rather than use a bidding mechanism.

Although many PPC providers exist, Google AdWords, Yahoo! Search Marketing, and Microsoft adCenter are the largest network operators as of 2007. Minimum prices per click, often referred to as costs per click (CPC), vary depending on the search engine and the level of competition for a particular phrase or keyword list—with some CPCs as low as US$0.01. Very popular search terms can cost much more on popular search engines. The PPC advertising model is open to abuse through click fraud, although Google and other search engines have implemented automated systems to guard against abusive clicks by competitors or corrupt webmasters.

I personally think it is much better to go with SEO ... Here are the advantages of SEO vs PPC

The top search engines do not want to cheat their users by providing only paid results. This means that non-paid listings are and will remain central, and the only way to prevail in those listings is through SEO.

A major reason that SEO should be your first priority is that it is more cost-effective than PPC.

Another advantage of SEO over PPC is stability: PPC positions continuously change according to your competitors' bidding tactics, while SEO is much more stable (when done right). Contrary to popular belief (even among some SEM firms), the linguistic parts of the top search engines' ranking algorithms have not changed much in the last few years, and they will not change in ways that substantially affect optimum SEO tactics.

"Click Fraud" is a growing problem that further reduces PPC's ROI relative to SEO.

Click fraud is a major threat to the whole search engine industry, as well as to individual advertisers. Fortunately, SEO is immune to this threat - because the absence of click charges eliminates any incentives or rewards for potential culprits.

For all the reasons described above, SEO is your first priority; PPC is second.

differences between SEO and PPC?

Costing methods : a click of a natural or organic search engine listing will cost the website owner nothing whereas a click of a PPC advertisement will.

Longevity : A PPC ad disappears as soon as the budget has been spent whereas a search engine optimised listing may remain for months after an SEO consultant has completed their work

advantages of SEO:

Once an effective SEO program is underway, there can be little to no cost involved in driving traffic to new product and/or service pages. A search engine optimised listing can remain for months after it is achieved.

Because PPC is best paid advertising service and very goodfor your online business. it increase your traffic very fast.
